TN Comptroller Says Former Fentress County Rescue Squad Captain Stole $22,829

An investigation by the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office, working in conjunction with the Fentress County Sheriff’s Department, has resulted in the indictment of Mark Crabtree, who served as captain within the Fentress County Rescue Squad.

According to a press release from the Comptroller’s Office, investigators determined that Crabtree misappropriated rescue squad funds totaling at least $22,829.13 between December 2022 and December 2023. Crabtree was removed from his position as captain in January of this year.

In June 2024, Mark Crabtree was indicted by the Fentress County Grand Jury on one count of theft over $10,000, one count of forgery over $10,000, and one count of fraudulent use of a credit or debit card over $1,000.
